Well here we are again, another first post on another blog.
I’ve had a few over the years now.
My first blog at mischavandenburg.com documented my journey into tech as a aspiring-to-quite-succesful DevOps engineer.
I still keep the site up, but I’m not writing on it anymore.
All of my tech content creation efforts are directed towards YouTube, and the Hugo system I set up for that blog has become a bit unwieldy.
A few years later I started mischavandenburg.blog, a WordPress site, because I wanted to have a creative outlet where I could write wherever I want. I didn’t write much on there either, because I don’t like WordPress after all.
When I discovered Substack I instantly loved it and saw the potential of it. It makes it super easy to start writing and build an email list at the same time. And I like that the platform is built to show your writings to other people as well, so you will get some new subscribers automatically, eventually.
So I started mischavandenburg.substack.com , a Tech Newsletter. This was quite successful and led to a few thousands subscribers and even a few paying subscribers. However, as my e-mail list grew, I needed to move it over to ConvertKit (or Kit these days) because it has more functionality that I need for my business.
And for the past few weeks I’ve been feeling the writing itch again. Not writing for work, to get views, or to achieve anything. Simply writing about stuff that’s on my mind that nobody will read, but which still feels pleasant to do.
That’s how blogging started for me, and now I want to continue doing that.
So on this new Substack you won’t find anything about DevOps, homelabs or coding, at least I’m going to try.
This place is to write about all of the other things I love to do in life. Reading books, travelling, camping, optimizing my health and living environment. So that’s what I’ll write about here.
If you happen to read this for some reason, thank you.
May you be happy and well.
Mischa
